Assalamualaikum alaikum warehmutallahi wabarakatuhu my dear Brother and sisters in Islam.

Allhamdulillah assalatu wassalamu ala Rasool Allah .

Every muslim, sometimes in his/her life would surely have read somewhere about being a stranger, or be in this world like a traveller or stranger,

What does it exactly means?
What does it signifies remains a mystery for many?
In order to understand it under the guidance of Prophetic sallallallaho aleyhi wasallam’s Tradition’s, we hereby elaborating our talk on the same noble topic.

In a hadith number 145 in Sahih muslim:-

Hadith

‏ ‏‏

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Islam initiated as something strange, and it would revert to its (old position) of being strange. so good tidings for the stranger.

This beautiful hadith talks about “Islam initiated as something strange” here means that when Islam came Through Prophet Muhammed sallalallaho aleyhi wasallam, at that time the situation of Arabia was known as “jahilia period” as adultery/alcohol/gambling were allowed people were indulged in all types of bad habits such as idol worshipping, drawing lots and seeking the consultation of trees/stones and even females to make their decisions, they used to have unimaginable activities, and kill their daughters, in such situations the beautiful religion of Islam emerged as something strange as blue Moon on the lands of Arabia, it was then considered by the people as something stranger and Islam came with decent principles and gave rights to each being and disciplined the life of people, proclaiming the call of monotheism- Islam emerged as light into the sea of darkness, people found Islam as strange at that time as people used to convert into Islam after reading the message of Holy Quran, and the verses of Holy Quran were in itself a miracle. Which moved the hearts of early converts like Hazrat Umar radiAllahu anhu.

At that time when people started converting into the religion of monotheism merely by reading/studying the message of Quran, Islam was represented as something strange in such situations of Arabia, and then it’s followers were considered as “strangers”..

Further in hadith, it has been said “and Islam will revert back to being strange” as, here it is being forcasted by Prophet aleyhi salatu wassalam that in future the time shall come when Islam would become again like when it started in a way that it’s followers, the people who would trully follow islam, shall be considered “stranger” by people, as we are seeing now a days, when someone adhere to islam in its true sense people think that person is strange. And many look upon those people in an inferior way, but further in the hadith Prophet aleyhi salatu wasallam said that ” glad tidings to the strangers” means their strangeness is good, they shouldn’t care about the gazes of people, as people see them as a stranger, as Allah has prepared glad tidings – A reward for such people..

There are other versions of this hadith where Rasool Allah sallallaho aleyhi wasallam explained some characteristics of such people who shall be considered as “guraba”

In another narration it was said :-

Who are the strangers? He said: “Those who are alienated from their tribes.”

lts isnad is saheeh]

Musnad Ahmad 3784

Means, we can see now a days, people who trully follow islam they are alienated by their own family, society, many times a revert is being alienated by their own parents.. Such is the alienation “guraba” go through.

There are so many other sahih narrations where Prophet Muhammed aleyhi salatu wasallam, said about the strangers that they shall correct the people around when corruption in Deen would be there, or scholars interpreted such hadith in a way that they would correct themselves in the times of corruption or Al fitan..

In the end I want to Ask Allah subhana watala to choose us among his few slaves, make us the stranger and grant us the highest place in Jannah aameen..
